To take out a tooth, any tooth, regardless of where it is, the option that's the best option that gets used any time is numbing them up. That's the Novocaine injections that people are familiar with. You know, the couple of pinches. The way I was taught to give the pinches is different than – oh, maybe it's not different, but I've experienced a lot of numbing. I've had a lot of, you know, root canals, extractions. I've been on the receiving end of a lot of those injections, so I kind of relate to the patients. So I have different ways and tricks to kind of numb that area a little bit more. I open it; I've been taught that by multiple instructors, so it's not like I'm reinventing the wheel. I've just seen what works and what doesn't just to get them numb. Once I get them past the numbing stage, the rest of the stuff is pretty much – as long as the patient's neck is comfortable, everything else goes smooth.
If the patient doesn't want to experience any of that, then again, we have the oral medications that can relax you a little bit, the (inaudible), the (inaudible). Then we also have dental anesthesiologist we use to basically sedate the patient to get you in that twilight sleep where you're kind of with it, but not really. Or full general anesthesia where you're just out. Then when you're done, you're done. You're up and awake and whatever is done is done now.
To replace a missing tooth, again some of the options that people had before were a partial denture that goes in and out. They have to drill other teeth. You have the bridge, which is also another option. But again, if you haven't had any other fillings, you're just missing one tooth, to drill down two natural teeth which in the future could become problematic, it's not always the best option.
As dentistry and the surgical field has evolved, we've gone to something that goes in and out to something that's more permanent like a bridge. Then we finally reached implants, where it's a solution for individualized teeth. We can place it wherever we need to, and we can restore that individual tooth. Then if god forbid something happens to the implant, it just happens to that one piece. You can always replace it or do something else. But that's the benefit of implants, is because everything is isolated to that one area.

Feel Better With a Tooth Extraction
Nobody likes to think about having a tooth removed. While we would rather save your tooth if possible, sometimes an extraction is necessary to restore your oral health and protect your other teeth. If you’re in this situation, count on Dr. Georgiev to perform your procedure with the utmost skill and accuracy. He is a licensed oral surgeon who has many years of experience taking care of patients just like you.
As he is able to perform any type of tooth removal, Dr. Georgiev can also extract wisdom teeth. For many people, wisdom teeth come through without causing any problems. For other people, however, these “third molars” can become stuck (impacted) under the gums.
In these cases, they can crowd or damage your healthy teeth, increasing your risk of tooth decay and infection. Just like with any other teeth, our on-staff oral surgeon will quickly and comfortably remove them to restore your oral health.
Sedation Will Calm Anxious Nerves
If you need help relaxing during your procedure, you’re welcome to take advantage of dental sedation. We offer three types of sedation, depending on your needs and level of anxiety:
- Inhaled sedation using safe and gentle laughing gas you breathe in through a mask.
- Oral conscious sedation using an FDA-approved pill you’ll take before your appointment.
- IV sedation that will put you in a “twilight state” so that you don’t remember anything about your procedure.
