Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry which includes many different processes that serve to improve the appearance of your teeth and gums. The primary focus of cosmetic dentistry is on achieving an enhancement to your appearance, with regard to color, positioning, size, and your overall smile appearance. Many people avoid smiling altogether because they feel self-conscious about what they consider to be a poor smile. This kind of smile is one which includes teeth that may be discolored, cracked or chipped, or possibly misshapen.
A great many people have tried to improve their smile at home by using teeth whitening products which just don't seem to deliver the results that you'd like to have. You might also feel embarrassed about teeth which have gaps in the front, or teeth which are smaller than usual or somehow misshapen. If you have feelings of embarrassment like this when you smile, you should realize that you're certainly not alone.
A study which was conducted by the American Association of Orthodontists found that
more than 33% of all American adults consider their smiles to be unsatisfactory. Many of these people also cover their teeth when they talk or smile, because they don't wish them to be seen by others. Almost 50% of young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 conceded in this same AAO study that they untagged themselves in Facebook photos because they were embarrassed about their smiles.
Cosmetic data can overcome many of the problems you might have with your smile, including cracks, chips, discoloration, and several other cosmetic flaws as well.
